Design rooted in Brianza, drawing on the two sectors historically linked to the region’s manufacturing heritage: furniture and textiles.
Tombolo is a handmade lace created in various parts of Italy. Notably, Cantù lace, crafted artisanally in Cantù, is a candidate for inclusion in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Delicate and refined, it is made from very fine cotton, linen, or silk threads and requires great skill, experience, and patience.
The same skill and patience have been applied by designers and craftsmen from the area between Lissone, Lecco, and Cantù in creating Tombolo, a table with essential and contemporary lines that carries with it a piece of the history and industrial culture from which it originates.
Made from a solid national walnut structure with interlocking assembly, Tombolo features a removable top made from a combination of walnut veneer and a solid surface.

Tombolo: elegance and versatility in one design
The ability to flip the tabletop allows for a versatile piece that can serve as both a living room table, showcasing the elegant walnut wood that extends from the legs onto the top, and as a dining or work table with a solid surface top, which is more resistant to wear and daily use.
The detail of the asymmetric cut designed on the edge, from which the top can be lifted, strongly characterises the product. The walnut top features a nod to the past: a decoration inspired by the famous Cantù lace, applied through serigraphy printing. This demonstrates that an appreciation for traditional elegance and a fascination with modern design can coexist and be expressed through the same product.
Tombolo was presented at the Milan Furniture Fair, within the Brianza Design event, Pavilion 24 / Stand F05-G02. This unique creation is among the products selected by the historic Young&Design competition, which has been awarding young designers at the Milan Furniture Fair since 1987 through the selection of products made by a strictly Italian exhibiting company at the Fair or Fuorisalone.

Brianza Design is a project tied to the values of our region and the preservation of the craftsmanship of Brianza in Como and Milan.
Lignum Leuci decided to participate with its own cabinetmakers, creating four products born from the creativity of designers who presented their work.
